Little miss pony-stang got to go on a field trip yesterday down the road. This week we were working on leading and while she understands giving to pressure on the lead, she wasn't thrilled with following me and would get stuck. I upped the pressure and she got very uncomfortable leading. So, we went along while my friends were riding and she did really, really well. She stayed behind and to the side for the most part, and stopped and went forward when I asked. Crossed the train tracks with just a little coaxing, crossed the bridge and checked out some cows. Had a tiny spook when a pheasant flew out of the ditch but just went sideways a little. I think sometimes they don't understand the point of leading or being around and with a human (really, can you blame them?), so a walk helps them understand what to do.
She's not ready for the Bug Club show, but we're making progress?
