Team Frannie June 23, 2026 - Update!

From trainer  Beth Stahlecker:

Recently Frannie has been working on picking up her feet, going for a solo walk down the road, and introduction to new and scary things like me jumping around, fly spray, pool noodles and tarps. She's taking it all in stride. Exept the fly spray... she's convinced she will melt if spray comes anywhere near her.

Today I also had a teen I know who is interested in learning about horse training come work with her. Frannie didn't mind meeting someone new and worked well with her. We introduced the tarp. Teaching humans is always a great experience too. When Frannie didn't want to step on the tarp after a bit, we talked about if it was a fear thing, a training thing, or a object thing. We decided maybe it had to do with the tarp being too easy to avoid. So we opened it up, were very mindful of our body positions and Frannie stepped over it. I think it's important (when teaching humans or horses...) to consider what the actual issue or bump in the road is before pushing harder.

We'll see how that applies to fly spray
Frannie will be available for adoption at the Dakota Showdown Finale on August 23, 2026 in Lennox, South Dakota. Check out http://dakotashowdown.com for more info.
