Sometimes things happen below the surface. Every horse is different. Some times we have to adapt ourselves because not every horse fits in our “box” as horse trainers and the program that grants us success 90% of the time. It’s the 10% that really push us and help us grow as trainers and horsemen. Lucy is the 10%. She is my toughest horse. But she is also the most rewarding. Watching her learn something and process it has been a gift and a blessing to my training. She forces me to look beyond the “program” after about a month- some ups and some downs- she is learning and progressing. The partnership is forming and someone is going to get their hands on a really nice horse come August.
