From Trainer Aspen Lyons:
Day 3 of working with Luke for the Dakota Showdown!
Today I went back out to see Luke and got him in the round pen sadly he had already lost his halter so we had to go back for round 2 which was easier than the first time. After getting the second halter back on, I messed around with a little bit, tugging on it lately to see how he felt about having pressure on and off after seeing that he did good with it. I decided that would be a good time to try and put a rope on so while he was eating from the bucket, I clipped it on he did really good, so I decided to start walking him around which I do not have a video of because I was focusing fully on him at the time, using pressure and release until he was doing good at it and ending off on a good note.
If you’re interested and like what you see me and Luke doing, please follow along and stay tuned, especially if you’re considering getting a horse around one to three. Maybe Luke will be the one for you!
Luke will be available for adoption at the Dakota Showdown Finale on August 23, 2026 in Lennox, South Dakota. Check out http://dakotashowdown.com for more info.
