From trainer Jay Westerbur:
Week 8 with #dakotashowdownteamonyx
Our sessions were shorter, due to the heat, this week. Even when waking up early, it still got hot fast.
I have officially picked out his front feet! Back feet will take a little longer, since he likes to shoot his back feet up really fast when I ask him to lift them up. I don’t doubt that he would let me, but I would rather play it safe. AND I can’t be too mad about it when he’s been really nice about his fronts.
We’ve been doing the other basics as well: yeilding hind and forequarters. He’s really smooth with his hind end, but his front takes more work lol.
I don’t have videos of it, but I have started to get him used to me doing random stuff. This week it was me jumping in place. At first he would just back up away from me like “what the heck are you doing
”. But he got brave and started coming up to me while I was doing it and reaching out to touch. I like that he’s started to realize it’s ok to not be sure, but checking it out makes it better.

This boy is also looking so good
he’s so shiny right now!
