Lucy is a friendly, sweet mare who enjoys one-on-one attention and has developed a solid foundation of skills. She is very lighly started with riding.

⭐ Catching, leading, and tying
⭐ Standing for grooming and fly spray
⭐ Picking up feet for the farrier
⭐ Accepts a bridle and surcingle
⭐ Working on accepting a saddle
⭐ Round pens nicely
⭐ Moves haunches and shoulder
⭐ Ridden bareback and working on a saddle

Lucy, a big mare with a history of panic aggression and separation trauma, arrived at GSH in 2023 as a potential Dakota Showdown horse. Initially described as "spoiled" and minimally handled, she was challenging to manage, especially when separated from her companions. GSH integrated her into their herd, allowing her to learn how to relax and trust humans. Over the course of a year, Lucy transformed into a friendly pasture horse with significantly reduced anxiety. She has now been matched with Kaylee Peel, the 2023 Dakota Showdown Grand Champion, who is prepared to continue Lucy's progress and work through her remaining issues.
