Meet Cocoa, a 12-year-old gelding around 15.1 hands who’s spending the summer with me (Rachel Lund) near Rapid City, SD.
We’re teaming up for this year’s Dakota Showdown—a competition focused on giving rescue horses like Cocoa a second chance.
Over the next few months, we’ll work together to uncover what he knows, build new skills and confidence, and hopefully add a few pounds (him, not me) before the finale in late August.
Through Cocoa’s journey, we hope to show that your next riding partner—or best friend—might be waiting at a rescue like Gentle Spirits Horse Rescue and Sanctuary.
