Team Twister June 16, 2025 - Update!

From trainer Beth Stahlecker:

Week 6/7ish:

Slowly but surely we're working... Ropes are just too much and we're not getting a breakthrough so I'm focusing on connection and helping Twister get comfortable with me. His way of saying he's not comfortable with an activity is to walk off, but he can get stressed if we're in the round pen. Today I was able to brush him with a brush with fly spray on it, and touch almost all the way down his front legs. He was pretty good with that. I could easily get halfway down his back legs also.

Today I decided to try clicker training since he's pretty food motivated. I've never done it before and the getting started and establishing the basics has made me nervous. I always want to set him up for success and give him solid building blocks. The first session went okay, I think. We'll see if we can build on it!
