Decided to break out the invisible halter last night. 
Worked great! If you chose to adopt this cutie, I'll send one home, free of charge. But, you'll see at the end how he felt about my hand reaching over to his other side. They take that left eye/right eye stuff seriously! He settled down a minute later and we ended with my scratching on both sides.
